If you could be whatever you want, what would you be?
An old sailor in the middle of the sea, the sun shining on my face, the smell of salt and thousand of stories tattooed on my skin.
Can you talk about your 5 favourite habits?
It may sound common but I live for simple things in life: eating, traveling, making love, playing ukulele to relax and obviously my job.
A statement or a maxima that describes you.
They are two: the first “stay gold” and the second “Goonies never say die”.
Do you feel in love?
Always.
Why have you chosen to develop a career in the world of moving image?
I began to develop my passion for photography taking shots with my Polaroid. Following the launch of Mtv, the discovery of video and of the image not just as a film was love at first sight and I suddenly thought: this is what I want to do in life.
Which director is a source of inspiration for you?
It is impossible having just one. In the world of cinema Gus Van Sant, Michel Gondry and Wes Anderson. In the world of commercials and music videos Romain Gavras and Yoann Lemoine. But I also look for inspiration in more independent directors, I keep myself up-to-date with different points of view in order to enrich my style, and understand what I do and do not like.
What do you think about the relation between Fashion and Cinema? In what way do you think fashion film could help both industries?
Fashion and cinema share a long lasting relationship, many well-known designers collaborated to the production of memorable films. On my opinion the fashion films offers to fashion a new way to communicate and to engage with the audience. To produce a fashion film one has to start from the basis of cinema, but there is also a chance to break some structured rules.
Look back at your past experiences: do you have a particular job or story to share with us?
I don’t have any specific anecdote, I only remember a particularly embarrassing moment when, shooting in a hotel, I went too far with the smoke machine and the alarm set off, so that the whole hotel was evacuated. I had to apologies with every single host, some of whom were even wearing their pajamas. Embarrassing though funny!
Do you have a special figure, a company or a group you would like to meet and work with?
Well, the first name that came to my mind when I heard this question was Prada; perhaps my targets are too high… why not?
