Lee Alexander McQueen was born and raised in London’s working-class East End, and there was nothing in his childhood to suggest a future in fashion. But with his fierce romanticism and punk poetry, Alexander McQueen created 1990s-era “Cool Britannia”, a celebration of youth culture in the U.K.
The composer Michael Nyman wrote the score for the film as a tribute to McQueen, who loved to listen to Nyman’s orchestrations while working in his atelier. In exclusive interviews with his closest friends and family members, archive material and the salvage beauty of his design, “McQueen” is both an intimate revelation and thrilling portrait of an inspiring yet tortured fashion visionary.
