#FFFMILANOFORGREEN / Ethical Fashion: perspectives on a new future

with ORSOLA DE CASTRO, HAKAN KARAOSMAN and MARINA SPADAFORA

Fashion Film Festival Milano is happy to introduce the #FFFMilanoForGreen conversation.

With the aim of sharing and raising awareness about the importance of sustainability in fashion industry today, the Festival presents three fundamental personalities in the field of social and environmental activism and academic research. The conversation will be mediated by Matteo Ward, co-founder of WRÅD.

 

ORSOLA DE CASTRO is a pioneer and internationally recognised opinion leader in sustainable fashion, she founded the upcycling label “From Somewhere” in 1997 and the initiative “Estethica” in 2006. In 2013 she founded Fashion Revolution, that raises public awareness of the continuing social and environmental catastrophes in our global fashion supply chains and has become a global movement with participation in over 1000 countries around the world. Orsola is a regular key note speaker, educator and mentor, Associate Lecturer at UAL, as well as a Visiting Fellow at Central Saint Martins.

 

Sustainability management professional, HAKAN KARAOSMAN is a post-doctoral researcher at Politecnico di Milano with a driven focus toward sustainability integration in fashion supply chain management. He holds BSc. in Environmental Engineering and MSc. in Management in Engineering of Energy and Environment, and double degree Ph.D. in Industrial Management. He has written papers for journals such as Journal of Fashion Marketing and Management, Sustainability and Business Process Management Journals, as well as various book chapters, international conference papers and practitioner-oriented reports.

 

 

Always working including a strong social and environmental focus, believing that ethics and aesthetics can coincide, MARINA SPADAFORA has been the Creative Director of “Auteurs du Monde”, the ethical fashion brand by Altromercato, produced respecting the workers and the environments involved. She worked directly with the United Nations with the aim of developing the emerging economies through fashion and in 2015 she received the United Nation Women Together Award for her efforts with women textile workers worldwide. She is the Italian country coordinator for Fashion Revolution and in 2014 she has also held a TEDx Talk on sustainable fashion discussing the power of the consumer.
