TITLE GRENSELØS GRØNN

DIRECTOR Marek Stave

BRAND Tekla Lou

COUNTRY Norway

A short story which explores a duality of a person and can be seen as the critique to the fashion industry. I would like the viewer to subconsciously think that the jacket in the film is the burden that causes the character to move in a desperate emotional state,
almost to the point of suicidal, and instead of shooting itself, one can take off the mask and realize that the burden lies in the person thyself and not in the pointed object – the jacket.

Having worked in the fashion industry myself for almost ten years, I have seen how cruel, superficial, and anxious it can be and I believe that there is another way out, by taking a distance, realizing oneself, weighing the values and a human being. In the same way as a love for fashion as to a human being where there is no light without darkness where the character at the end choses to take their mask off, leaving the “burden” behind and facing the green light.
The film is enhanced by a poetic Arri cinematography, self-written poem and live choral music. Inspired by the concept of the design I wrote and directed this short film for a fashion design student Tekla Lou for her annual design presentation at Khio
school of design. Shot in Oslo on location at Khio during lockdown pandemic.

TITLE 1995

DIRECTOR Claudio Vitello

BRAND Maison Apnoea

COUNTRY Italy

An awakening to a new and suffocating reality. An invisible prison within the domestic walls.
An exhausting search for a way out of that microcosm fogged by laboured breaths. A transparent cage that also becomes a cocoon, an oppressive but also protective space.
A snapshot of our age, of the suspended lives imprisoned in our homes.
Finally, resilience as the only weapon of resistance; adapting to find an agreement between new variations.
A visual analogy between a shared worldwide sentiment and the idea behind the APNOEA brand concept – a bubble of air removed from the Panta Rei, which becomes a space for expression and protection – creates an intense metaphor for the post-pandemic world.

TITLE FLOWERING SOULS

DIRECTOR Virginia Riolfo

BRAND /

COUNTRY Italy

The story comes from inside the body.
Human beings suspended in a temporal limbo, motionless, in search of a balance between soul and body, form and matter.
The project narrates, through an audiovisual tale, a path of rebirth in the footsteps of the greatest pioneers of contemporary dance and the philosophy of some fashion designers, who have made lightness and movement their creative cornerstone.
A succession of apparently disconnected images that involve the spectator with the help of specific garments, movements and noises conceived on the basis of the emotions they want to convey. Suspended calm, short brain circuits simulating a mental escape, whistles, noises and finally peace, freedom.
The union of these art forms thus creates an expressive combination aimed at consciously recovering the importance of the body and free movement, the main vehicle for communicating the soul.

TITLE SOLDADERAS
DIRECTOR Camila Arroyo

BRAND Sabrina Ol

COUNTRY Mexico

Directed by Mexican choreographer-director Camila Arroyo, and created in collaboration with designer Sabrina Olivera, “Soldaderas” is a contemporary interpretation of the figure of the Soldadera, known as the women fighters of the Mexican revolution. The choreographic portrait follows a young woman as she dances her way through Mexico City, capturing her twists and turns as well as the different self-fashioning rituals that accompany her. The film is also a moving archive of Olivera’s first collection, created in honor of the Soldaderas for her upcoming brand Sabrina Ol. The movement in the film plays with the idea of the word soldar, translated in English as to weld. Centering this action, the choreographic language plays with the actions of melting, and rebuilding, braiding and forging as a backbone to how the protagonist moves around the city. As we watch the film, we play dress up with the dancer and sink into our bodies, allowing her movements to travel through us.

TITLE SISTERHOOD

DIRECTOR: Fiona Jane Burgess
BRAND: Nowness x AGL
COUNTRY: United Kingdom

The soulful vocals of British singer-songwriter Låpsley ring throughout Sisterhood in an original composition written for this campaign. “Sisterhoodis strength in numbers,” says director Fiona Jane Burgess, who pairs Låpsley’s poetry with movement from dancers Nikkita Chadha, Sharia Johnson, and Grace Jabbari. “It’s complex and multifaceted, it’s our support systems and our collective power.”
Made by women for women, the FW21 collection is an icon of Postmodern minimalism, finely balancing timeless elegance with touches of extravagance. AGL’s chic silhouettes and styles include metallic silver deerskin boots, yellow patent leather loafers, and platform sneakers, all of which were delicately integrated into Sisterhood’s narrative-driven choreography.
The film shows the dancers leaning on and supporting each other through sensitive movements set against the contemporary interiors of the Tate Modern gallery in London; the result is a celebration and expression of female solidarity. “Sisterhood is what I rely on to keep me grounded,” the director ends, “to remind me that I’m connected to womxn by our shared history and our collective experiences.”

HARMÓNIA
Director: Isaac Lock
Brand: Nanushka and NOWNESS
Country: /

Director Isaac Lock, known for his impressionable docu-films that tease out the idiosyncratic beauty of the human spirit, has shot the first-ever short film for Nanushka, presenting its Spring/Summer 2022 collection designed by Creative Director Sandra Sandor. Effortlessly combining nuanced design with form and functionality, Nanushka partnered with NOWNESS to capture the freedom of movement in this euphoric film.
Harmónia has the premise of a casting call as its inspiration. The film’s muted colors, soft focus, and dim lights are the backdrop for the emotions of each cast member as they walk onto set; waves of apprehension and nervous excitement fill the silent room.
From behind the camera, movement director Yagamoto takes each model on a journey of self-expression through dance. After getting over the initial awkwardness of performing uniform warm-up exercises in front of a camera, the eleven cast members build up the confidence to erupt into an unrestrained dance. At the film’s climax, the director captures their ecstatic faces and the collective unburdening that comes from giving in, letting go, and finding harmony in the moment. The film culminates in an emotive interplay, taking the SS22 collection’s design pillars—surprising opposites, reimagined fabric techniques, and contrasting motifs—and highlighting them through a cast of characters authentic to the Nanushka world.

TITLE A NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

DIRECTOR Byron Rosero

BRAND Moncler and NSS

COUNTRY: Italy

In collaboration with a group of 21 women, nss and Moncler created a narrative that aims to visually explore the act of unhinging and reformulating traditional perceptions of artistic presentation. The result was achieved through variations of sensory compositions generated by portraying the set design and direction of movement in a video and series of images. Space and set design are at the center of the narrative, created within two rooms of Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan where the women portrayed embark on a journey of liberation and self-discovery as they find themselves gradually assimilated and becoming part of a space built by them and for them, in which they identify.

TITLE THE INFINITE
Director: jin roh
Brand: MINA CHUNG
Country: Republic of Korea

“Spring starts with the death of winter.
Autumn begins when summer commences to die.”
Each death of a season gives birth to the next one.
One has to die, in order to greet a new season.
Ironically, death is granting a new life to another season.
Through this film, MINA CHUNG aims to illustrate this irony of seasons: the way how a birth of a season means a death of the previous one.
We were inspired the concept of reincarnation and circulation of seasons. Would it be even possible to describe when each season actually starts, and finishes, in the first place?
They are all co-linked with one another, like the infinite, Möbius strip.
This film was made to illustrate this idea, with more of a poetic approach, through dance, fashion and film. Through expressing this concept of infinity of seasons, we were focusing on the subtle, yet, dramatic tension, evolving from the changes of each seasons.

In a sensuous short film shot in a North London home, Sharna Osborne and Sinéad O’Dwyer revisit and comically reinterpret Sinéad’s memories and observations of life as a domestic worker. Exploring the duality of intimacy and professionalism that characterises the experience of working in another person’s home -as well as the potentially exhibitionist subtext of the situation- it imagines what a cast of wayward nannies might get up to when no one’s watching – even if that may well not be the case.
