After earning a degree in Economics and Commerce, Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo became interested in collecting contemporary art in the early 1990s. Her passion for art turned into an organized venture when in 1995 she created the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and became its President. In 2017, she established the Fundacion Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Madrid.
Since 2008, Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudgeno has been a member of the Cultural Commission of the Confederation of Italian Industry and she has been President of the Contemporary Art Foundation Committee, of the European Institute of Oncology Foundation and the Monzino Cardiology Centre since 2014 and 2017 respectively.
She is a member of the International Council of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Tate Gallery in London, the Leadership Council of the New Museum in New York, the Advisory Committee for Modern and Contemporary Art of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Board of Directors of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, the CCS Board of Governors of Bard College in New York, the Advisory Committee of the Rockbund Art Museum in Shanghai, and the patronage of the Fundación MACBA in Barcelona.
Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo has been awarded several prizes and honorary titles, including the Recognition of Officer of the Italian Republic (2005) and the title of “Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres” conferred by the French Republic (2009).
Since 2015, he has been teaching Theories and Forms of the Art Market at IULM in Milan.
