After finishing his studies in philosophy, in 2014, Francesco moved to New York where he assisted photographers including Bruce Weber and Peter Lindbergh, before starting his own career as a photographer.
He focused on portraiture and has photographed personalities such as Keith Richards, Kanye West and Jeff Koons. He has also directed music videos for Lenny Kravitz, Jay-Z and Beyonce to name a few and commercials for brands Tommy Hilfiger, Apple and FIAT.
In 2016, his feature documentary “Franca: Chaos and Creation”, about his mother Franca Sozzani, premiered at the Venice Film Festival followed by the AFI in Los Angeles and sold to Netflix worldwide.
Francesco’s first narrative feature, “The Hanging Sun”, based on the novel “Midnight Sun” by Jo Nesbo, stars Charles Dance, Peter Mullan, Jessica Brown Findlay, Alessandro Borghi and was the closing film at the 2022 edition of the Venice Film Festival.
His latest project is the Netflix Original Series “Supersex” based on the life of Italian porn star Rocco Siffredi.
